Costa del Sol Beach Guide from Estepona Villas

Beaches in and around Estepona

Estepona is located on the Western Costa del Sol at the foot of the Sierra Bermeja mountains. Its costline is more than 20Km long and is scattered with numerous sandy beaches and tiny coves. At the Western end of the 'Paseo Maritimo' is Estepona's charming port and harbour, built in 1977 and located only a short walk from town. In history and culture the town remains unspoiled and the warm and friendly people preserve tradition with pride. The narrow, cobbled streets and quaint little shops just add to the charm of this lovely town.

There are numerous restaurants and tapas bars to choose from see our restaurant guide for my favorites.

Here long hot summers merge into the mildest of winters making Spain one of my favorite all year round places to be.

Beach Guide

Many of the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag for high standards of water and sand hygiene. The Costa del Sol has numerous, well kept, popular bathing beaches with sun beds and shades to hire together with showers and many water sports. You will also find many Chringuitos that, besides serving cold drinks, have delicious food. Don't miss the fresh chargrilled sardines.....great with a glass or two of Rioja!

Estepona Beaches

La Rada BeachLa Rada Beach (Estepona) is located in front of the town centre. This is a large popular beach (2.4km long) with golden sand, it has a lovely promenade with gardens and childrens play areas. All kinds of sports are enjoyed here such as windsurfing and kayaking. There are many Chiringuitos serving a wide viriety of traditional food such as paella and fresh fish to fast-food such as burgers & french fries. Facilities include watersports, life guards, restaurants, cafes, toilets, showers and deck chairs. (The Marina is located at the western end of La Rada beach).

The El Cristo Beach (Estepona) situated just outside town (west). Perfect for families with children .... the beach is in a delightful sheltered cove gently sloping into the sea. There are two great beach chiringuitos that serve mouth-watering snacks and seafood.

Beaches West of Estepona

The Costa Natura (Estepona) Playa Costa Natura is a popular public nudist beach, open to everyone. Summer beach bar with sunbeds and parasols for hire, plus beach-side shower. Easy walk along the beach all the way from the town or at km 151 on the A7/N340. Behind the public beach there is a members-only nudist village with swimming pool and restaurant ... day-membership available through a reception facility accessed from the A7/N340 public car park.

Sabinillas A Spanish fishing village where you can see the daily catch of the local fishermen as they pull their boats up the beach. Long sandy beaches that are popular with the locals.

Puerto Duquesa Probably my favourite beach in this area, with several really good beach bars "Chiringuitos" that as well as seving food & drink hire out sunbeds & umbrellas.

Sotogrande On El Cucurucho beach you may find well known personalities taking a stroll along the beach. There are two beach clubs: El Octógono and El Cucurucho, both offer a wide range of beach-side facilities, including swimming pools, restaurants, activities for youngsters.

Costa de la Luz between Cadiz and Tarifa, has wide, remote golden sand beaches backed by sand dunes. The winds make it a wind & kite surfers paradise. East of the Costa del Sol is the "Costa Tropical" with pretty coves, reached by paths and tracks down cliffs. The water here is clearer making it the best area for snorkelling and diving.

Beaches East of Estepona

El Pardron Beach (Estepona) Situated a few Km to the east of the town (Km 159.5), near the Kempinski Resort Hotel. There is a car park and a few chiringuitos. This is a lovely small beach, but is often very busy in the summer. Sun beds and parasols can be hired and watersports such as snorkling and wind surfing can be arrange in the Kempinski hotel.

Playa el Saladillo (near Costalita) This is a lovely long, wide beach that doesn't get to over crowded in the high season. Situated next to the Coatalita apartment development, take the Cancelada exit off the coast road. There are two great beach restaurants 'La Antigua' (fantastic mussels with chopped leeks in a cream sauce!) and 'Pepe's Beach' which serves excellent paellas; both also hire sun beds & parasols.

Playa Puerto Banus (Puerto Banus) is situated to the East of the marina and is protected by a jetty. This is a popular beach and a luxurious cosmopolitan resort that is the place to be seen, if your lucky you may get the chance to rub shoulders with the rich and famous! The beach offers great views of the ocean and Gibralter, with a backdrop of La Concha mountain range. There are many international bars and restaurants for all budgets close by, as well as art galeries, designer boutiques, beauty centres and department stores.

Funny Beach (Marbella) is located on the coast-side of the enterance arch to Marbella, Km 184. This beach does have the regular sea, sand, deckchairs and a snack-bar, but for the more energetic ones there are jet skis, banana boat, canoes, wind surfing, go-karts, trampolines, miniature golf, pinball machines, video games, darts and even a mechanical bull! Open Hours: Summer: 11.00 am - 03.00am, Winter: 4pm-8pm. Admission: Free, but you will have to pay separately for each attraction.

San Pedro Beach Long pretty promenade with many beach bars that serve fried pescadito (fish) ... delicious! Jet ski hire & ski-pull.
